Doxycycline is a tetracycline-class antibiotic with excellent tissue penetration into the respiratory tract, gut, and liver. Effective against Mycoplasma, Chlamydia (Psittacosis/Ornithosis), Pasteurella, and a wide range of gram-positive bacteria — the organisms behind many common pigeon and parrot respiratory presentations and soft or abnormal droppings.
